Curt Covington

Curt CovingtonCurt Covington is the Senior Director of Institutional Lending at AgAmerica Lending. At AgAmerica Lending, Curt assists with credit analyst and production personnel on large agricultural loans. His major initiatives include building customizable products as well as developing efficiencies for the large loan process as the company continues to evolve. Curt began his career in ag finance in 1979 as an agriculture banker for 42 years. Prior to AgAmerica, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Farmer Mac. Throughout his professional career, Curt has held a variety of positions in agricultural organizations and was a keynote speaker for various ag conferences for more than 25 years.

Brad Stevens

Brad StevensBrad has been leading the credit industry as an analyst, trainer and consultant for over 30 years.  His career started with Norwest Bank in Minneapolis, where he was taught credit under the direction of Jeff Judy and later John Barrickman, two titans of the credit industry. During his tenure, Brad either restructured, exited or liquidated targeted commercial accounts.  He successfully built strong, profitable, well structured credit portfolios for two mid size banks as a commercial relationship manager. For the past eleven years, Brad built a strong credit portfolio at Alerus of over $40 million in current outstanding credit balances and did not suffer a loss or 30 day late during his tenure. He has worked as an Associate with Jeff Judy and Associates for a number of years on numerous projects. Brad uses his experience and real world credit examples to bring a unique and interesting perspective to the credit training world.

Dr. David Kohl

Dr. David KohlDr. Dave Kohl is a Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Finance and Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech. Dr. Kohl has keen insight into the agriculture industry gained through extensive travel, research, and involvement in ag businesses. He has conducted more than 7,000 presentations and published more than 2,500 articles in his career. Dr. Kohl’s wisdom and engagement with all levels of the industry provide a unique perspective into future trends. Dr. Kohl is currently President of AgriVisions, LLC, a knowledge-based consulting business providing cutting-edge programs to leading agricultural organizations worldwide. He is also a business coach and part owner of Homestead Creamery, a value-added dairy business in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Ed Usset

Ed UssetEdward Usset serves as a Grain Marketing Economist for the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota. Working with his colleagues at CFFM and in Extension, Ed developed the award winning “Winning the Game” series of workshops. He also manages Commodity Challenge, an online marketing education game that uses real-time cash and futures data. At the University, he teaches “Commodity Markets” to undergraduate and graduate students. The 2nd Edition of his book, “Grain Marketing is Simple (it’s just not easy)” was released in November 2015. Ed regularly speaks to farm groups throughout the Corn Belt on the difficult challenge of marketing grain. He is also a regular contributor to Corn & Soybean Digest online.
