Need a Reminder?

by | Aug 30, 2018

FINPACK allows users to set a reminder related to a specific file.  A Reminder in FINPACK consists of a note related to the FINPACK file, as well as a due date for the action.  Reminders assist FINPACK users with completing tasks in a FINPACK file and can help track the progress of a customer file.  Reminders are accessed through the Reminder icon on the toolbar or going to File + Reminders.

Reminders

Four Parts

Reminders consist of four parts.

  • Completed? – this allows a FINPACK user to acknowledge when a Reminder task has been completed.
  • Due Date – the date the Reminder is to be completed.
  • Item – the specific tool or statement the Reminder pertains too.  A specific balance sheet, presentation, projection, or other FINPACK tool can be associated with the Reminder task.
  • Description – the details of the Reminder being set.

The columns of the Reminder can be re-organized per user preference.  Simply drag the column to the desired location.  The columns can also be sorted accordingly, by Due Date, Completed?, or Item.

Notes related to FINPACK software updates are also automatically displayed in Reminders.  These notes detail the FINPACK release number and the file updates that were made as a result of the update.

Displaying Reminders

Reminders can be set to display alerts when the related FINPACK data file is open.  These alerts can be set to always display or display when the particular Reminder is past due.  This is done by going to Tools + Options + General when in the FINPACK data file.    Reminders can be set to display never, when past due, or always.

Summary

FINPACK Reminders can be a great way to prompt users regarding tasks to be completed in a customer file.  Using Reminders keeps notes directly in the FINPACK file, for easy use and recollection.
